ABOUT ME

My surgical practice includes general, minimally invasive (keyhole) colorectal and emergency surgery. General surgical procedures include Laparoscopic and open hernias (inguinal, femoral, umbilical/abdominal, incisional and parastomal), gallbladder (cholecystectomies), skin lesions as well as complex abdominal reconstruction. Colorectal surgery includes change in bowel habits; coloproctology (haemorrhoids, fissures, complex fistulas, rectal bleeding etc.); pilonidal disease; Laparoscopic and open colorectal surgery for cancer, Inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, benign pathology; perineal prolapse surgery and JAG accredited for endoscopic procedures which I regularly undertake (gastroscopy/flexible sigmoidoscopy/colonoscopy).

Apart from the appealing challenges I thrive upon in the field of surgery, I have enjoyed continuing my interests in cancer and IBD research, clinical management projects for both cost effective use of resources and better patient management, and teaching of allied medical professionals and students.

I am currently undertaking an on-line self-paced Blue Mountain app development course where I hope to develop medical and charity apps, and hope that my ability to speak Urdu and basic communication in sign language will aid my patient care within the cultural diversity today.

With my wife and three young children, I am now re-visiting my hobbies that include orienteering, canoeing, rock climbing and skiing (2 star silver). I still enjoy swimming (gold, 1 mile & survival awards), trampolining (1st for under 16 age group), badminton and Jujitsu. I also enjoy drawing and painting, as well as SLR photography work (Canon 7D MkII) and fund raising for charity events.
